We told you to watch out for these guys.

Occupying a movement on their own accord, Granston Display have taken some monumental steps towards world domination. Having released their self titled debut EP in March to playing all around town and most recently at Melbourne signature all ages festival The Push Over.

If you’ve got the EP but haven’t seen them live I still need your attention. You’ll find a pretty little gem in the live set you won’t have heard before.

‘Here Come The Punches’ throws your mind into a musical jumping castle from the very beginning with a wipeout-esque guitar wobble. It’s fast paced and catchy as all hell. Thrashy chords create a foundation for the cheeky high hat and hypnotising cow bell. The bridges encapsulate James’ vocal range and add another dimension to the already solidified groove established, not to mention allow your ears to digest what they’ve just been exposed to.

Note: you’ll be asked to smell the track at 2:08.. please do so, it’s like a rich mahogany.

I’ll have whatever they’re selling.

The Adelaide electronic music duo of Anny Duff and Mike Radz, better known to the music world as Glisk have just finished and released their album called, Hermaion. To sum it up in one line – it is 34 minutes of pure bliss. There is no better way to put it. Emotion fuelled humming synths work harmoniously with the soothing vocal melodies, situated perfectly over the electronic beats.

It is a thoroughly enjoyable and peaceful album that deserves to be listened to by all! You can download it for free/name-your-price from their bandcamp page. Very, very highly recommended by us.

The only thing more we can hope is that they get their butts out of Adelaide and across the nation soon!

Messrs are back with a new release since their 2011 single Everyone Knows and it hasn’t left my head all week! It’s an upbeat dreamy kind of song with and it gives me the feeling of one of those epic carefree festival moments where everyone has their hands in the air and eyes closed, simply swaying to the music.

There’s just something about that driving jungle beat and reverbed staccato that gets me every time. A powerful yet lucid chorus works perfectly leading into the more dancy jungle beat and the guitars give off a strong Foals influence; which is great in our books.

Long story short; this is a really good song!

It’s the perfect mix of funky grooving Cut Copy-esque synths and catchy singable lyrics that make this an absolute killer track, not to mention it totally makes you want to get up and boogie down. I could definitely see this tune being belted out to thousands of bopping festival punters!

Like something out of a ‘Corona’ commercial.

Django aka Thomas James may not be as badass as the coffin dragging, machine gun toting cowboy he shares his alias with. However, he is an extremely talented singer songwriter from our great city of Melbourne.

After listening to ‘The Rabbit’ two or three times, the beautiful guitar hooks become more and more gentle – leaving you vulnerable to Thomas’ humbling lyrics.

At just under three minutes in length, The Rabbit is intended to be deciphered by the listener; ‘I’ve personally always loved the songs that aren’t necessarily clear in what they’re about, people can just take away what they want from them and create their own meaning’

Currently in the studio recording the debut EP and sipping on a home-brewed chilli beer, Django has a certain levelheaded swag about him, making him another artist to watch.

Looking back, school excursions were an excuse to sit next to the girl you liked on the bus. A pretext to chuck out your ham and cheese sandwich and buy some hot food with the money Mum gave you.

Enter Field Trip, four guys from Melbourne using enchantingly deliberate guitar riffs and sentimental song writing to celebrate some of the best years of our lives. ‘Cream’ is their own interpretation of ‘youth that is filled with excitement, eagerness and innocence.’ With a sound parallel to that of Peter John & Bjorn, ‘Give Me A Break’ is the defining point in the EP reminding me of every single summer I’ve spent abroad.

‘You Make Me Sleepy’ personally, is reminiscent of Willy Wonka’s ‘Pure Imagination’; only set in the future. All the Oompa Loompas are practicing private philosophy whilst wearing skinny wardrobe expressive jeans. They’re nu-age Loompas.

You can download the debut EP for free below and catch the guys at the Workers Club on the 24th of March or alternatively at the Wakefield Festival on the 25th at Laundry.

Fortunately for you (yeah, YOU!) John, Jesse, Sam and Liam will be suiting up to release their first single ‘Stone’ tonight at the Workers Club, throwing around all sorts of verbs and adjectives for you to interpret and form opinion. For a measly ten dollars you’ll also be subjected to Private Life, who, of late have seen abundant success of their single ‘Run Run’ (Watch out for these guys!)

I’ve made your night extremely simple. You can thank me later.

March 23rd marks a new beginning for Can’t Say.

Encouraging amazing live music, cheap ass drinkz and one hella-of-a-party, Vault 8, Banana Alley becomes the new home for your favourite Friday night. With a plethora of legit brands joining the weekly Can’t Say cause (Poncho, The Ripe, Airwolf Paradise to name a few) it’s literally a matter of days before your mind is blown.

Curating the night are Brisbane beach-rock duo Dune Rats, who, in their short existence have played with the likes of Best Coast, The Drums and The Grates. Captivating the youth and simplicity of an adolescent summer through both their music videos and catchy hooks, it’s extremely hard not fall in love with these guys.

Joining them are the Midnight Juggernauts (DJ Set) alongside Love That Music’s own James Fava, J Heasy & Play.
