Following up the incredible tune, ‘Clair De Lune‘, which ranked #17 on Triple J’s Hottest 100 in 2012, Flight Facilities have brought out another beautiful song. ‘I Didn’t Believe‘ is the latest single from this Sydney electronic duo, having a penchant for female vocalists.

‘I Didn’t Believe’ featuring Elizabeth Rose is a fresh tune, a clear progression from the previous single ‘Clair De Lune‘, it has a faster pace and sounds fuller than what we’ve come to love. This, matched with the elegant vocals from Elizabeth, has made for a beauty bound to be on repeat wherever you go.

Not only are they touring Australia, they’ve already booked in for a bunch of dates over in Europe, their popularity being recognised outside of this country.

So if you want to catch them before they head off, and you’re more tailored towards judging music based on their live performance. then you’ll be happy to know that Flight Facilities are hitting the road nationally in support of this new single, having already sold out five of their shows so far, two in Sydney, two in Melbourne and one in Perth. With support from Elizabeth Rose as well, we’re bound to hear a live rendition of the stellar song.

Having featured Buchanan previously, we know how good they are. But then they come back to make sure we never forget it. ‘Human Spring‘, the title track for their upcoming album, due to be released May 10th, is an energetic explosion of bliss, that power keeping us grooving!

This quick, upbeat song is wholesomely uplifting. It is near impossible not to repeat the song at least three or four times, showing it to all your family members while you’re at it. But that’s not all, “Ain’t got no violent heart, still we will make our mark”, is a line that is surely not going to leave your mind, you’ll find yourself having a bath, a ‘human spring’ some might say, and it’ll come drifting right back in.

This is just the beginning though, this is one song off their upcoming album. And if they are anything like this, then we are all in for a treat. It will be one of those albums that you have on repeat for weeks, never tiring of the evident talent that the boys of Buchanan carry.

It seems to be the word that is on everyone’s tongues, ‘Flume’. Destroying all boundaries, people who love very different genres are coming together to see this one-man extravaganza. Young Harley Streten started making music at the age of thirteen, not picking up a guitar, but receiving a basic production tool through a cereal box and he hasn’t stopped since. Here’s hoping he doesn’t stop any time soon.

A bit of research shows off the history that Harley has had, HEDS & Humblebuzz, being previous projects, his skill still showing through even at such an early stage. It’s quite amazing to see how far he has come, someone who has moved from the dimly-lit bedroom producing to standing in front of thousands of dedicated fans.

It appears his imagination is seemingly endless, Harley’s ‘Infinity Prism’ matched with his incredible set is something that we’ve never seen before. However, that’ll change as his tour kicks off, he’ll be heading all around Australia, and we’ll be catching his sold-out show at Festival Hall on Thursday, the 2nd of May. Teaming up with friend, and fellow beatmaker, Chet Faker, there is no wonder as to why this show has sold out.

New remixes being previewed at his shows, it’s good to see he is still working hard on making new music, to keep us entertained alongside his self-titled album, ‘Flume’. Harley has a big future ahead of him and we’ll be taking note of every groundbreaking thing he does. In time we’ll see what is in store.

Flawlessly melding a variety of genres, we present to you GodWolf from Melbourne. We are so glad to have heard these guys on Triple J, their latest single ‘Alone’ getting stuck in our heads. And to think they only formed in 2011, clearly their talent has shown through and given them the exposure they deserve.

It’s incredible the way they Tom Armstrong & Joe Kosky work together, creating a song that is ambient but still has breaks for dance. All over the Triple J Unearthed charts as well, we can expect these two to explode this year.

But that is not all that they have in store for us, second EP ‘Throw An Ocean’ is on it’s way and if ‘Alone’ is anything to go off, this will be one release to get your hands on. Hoping for a May release, the boys will release it as a free download through Facebook and Soundcloud, because that’s just the generous type of guys they are.

What we cannot wait for is the next single, ‘Alone’ is a standout track, and it can only go up from here.

“We like the idea of blending the ethereal with the vicious: the ambient with the aggressive: the God with the Wolf.”

Birthing from the always active city of Melbourne, this group of friends, formed the band Neighbourhood Youth, and they’ve created some of the finest indie rock you’ll hear. And we’re here to review the latest single, and catchy track, ‘My Friends‘.

It’s always good when you come to review a song and you can’t take it off repeat. This fast-paced track is an excellent creation. Those quick drum elements making the back line for a song that’ll stay in your head, not only that, it’ll have your foot tapping to no end. Mix this in with the grittiness of John Philip ‘JP’ Nicolocopoulos’ voice and you have a track that you won’t forget. The falsetto that shows up in parts of this song would have to be our favourite part, having that sort of voice is what pulls it all together so beautifully.

Expect more releases from Neighbourhood Youth of this quality, because a band this well structured and talented is never going to let anyone down.

And don’t you worry, not only have they released a video for this latest single, they’ve jumped on tour to support it. If you wanna show the boys how well you can groove, or you want to shout their words back at them, go see them on one of their tour dates, you won’t be disappointed.

If you’re a fan of Mumford & Sons or Boy & Bear, you’re bound to enjoy Needing Cherie from Dunsborough, Western Australia. This five-piece rock folk band are currently all over Triple J’s Unearthed and for good reason; they are exceptional.

Having found them as I was going through the Unearthed indie charts, I was enchanted by their song, Peter Rabbit, this cheerful song would be on repeat for days now. Look down the page and have a listen to this incredible ditty.

What had me in awe was Brayden’s vocals, strong and consistent but still remaining soothing. Mix this in with the gentle strings that are evident throughout the song and you are bound to fall in love with it. The chorus creates an imminent bliss and it’s hard not to want to have a dance.

If this is what the boys have produced previously, on their first EP, we look forward to see what they’ve done with Veracity, their next EP expected to come out this month. Make sure you check out their Unearthed page as it has two other brilliant songs.

It’s always nice when a band who had a stellar debut EP go on tour for a while, and then finally get back in the studio and bring out some exciting new material. Sydney indie circuit mainstays Jenny Broke the Window hit the ground running in 2010 with their debut EP Another Summer, but then spend most of the next two years playing live in support of the EP, experimenting with new songs here and there but not releasing any new material.

So far in 2013, however, they’ve already recorded two new songs, the first of which was released in February. It’s called ‘Ravel’, and it’s the same lighthearted indie pop sound we’ve come to expect from Jenny Broke The Window, with a little more of a mature edge that shows these guys are evolving both as songwriters, and musicians.

It’s a challenge to sit and listen to this song and not want to get up and move, or at least engage in a round of enthusiastic chair dancing. A tight beat, a catchy melody, and some hand-clapping bits – what more could you possibly want? It also doesn’t hurt that Sam Lathlean has a very easy voice to listen to, and although he may not be the most dramatic or acrobatic singer out there, he knows where his strengths are, and the songs play right to those strengths.

It would be nice if Jenny Broke The Window would come out with another EP or even an album, and who knows, they may be working up to that. In the meantime, however, we’ll take this single, with the promise of a second new song coming later in the year.

‘Ravel’ is out now and is available as a free download on the Jenny Broke The Window Facebook page.

Messrs, this excellent indie quintet out of Adelaide, have announced a new tour which we couldn't be more ecstatic for, considering our love for the band. Having exploded out of 2012 and in to 2013 with their EP ‘Welcome to Nowhere’, and their lead single ‘Desert’, the group has returned to show us that they've still got more in store for us.

Back again with another national tour to celebrate the release of their brand new single, ‘Running Wild’, we’ll see Messrs covering an eight-day tour through April, May & June. But do not fret if you are a regional fan, this tour includes regional locations as well as the usual east coast venues, which makes it one of the biggest tours they've done.

If you were a fan of ‘Welcome to Nowhere’, you’ll love ‘Running Wild’ as it maintains that smooth groove that was prominent on ‘Welcome to Nowhere’. However, this single builds on the already established finesse that Messrs have to create an aural experience like no other.

'Running Wild' is available on iTunes on Friday April 12.

Now here’s a band that you need to put on your bucket list, “See ‘I Know The Chief’ live”, you can list it as. What we’re trying to say, if you missed the obvious point, is that this band… is exceptional. Forming from the remnants of Passport (For Amy), they have come together to show, individually, that they’re all still as skilled as ever.

Be warned though, their music will haunt you, you’ll find yourself getting in to bed and Benjamin William’s voice will flow through your mind. But that is nothing compared to the symptoms of hearing these boys live, it includes:

An uncontrollable need to tap one’s foot

A happiness matched by no other

An insatiable need for more

Soon enough, they’ll have you addicted. It’s that infectious indie rock that causes all of these symptoms, their history as friends allows them to meld perfectly as a band.

But don’t let their infectious grooves fool you, these five are some of the hardest working people to grace the Earth and you can expect nothing short of spectacular from the group. Keep an eye out for ‘I Know The Chief’, because there are big things happening for the Werribee five-piece.
