The Road to Meredith: Graveyard Train

So it’s almost that time of year; where we let our hair down and party like a hyperactive munted chimpanzee. Yes, I am talking about Meredith Music Festival, my favourite festival of the season and we are now only a month away. So I figured I would start to spotlight some of the great local talent that is playing the show this year! The obvious would to rant and rave about Nick Cave’s Grinderman; but that wouldn’t be the point of this whole blog, so here is something a little bit left-field and maybe not as well known (if you do know then, you’ll know why I am writing about them), so here I introduce to you Melbourne’s own Graveyard Train!

So their Facebook page describes themselves as “Horror Country Drunken Bearded Stompy Chain Smashy Madness” and that is pretty accurate! I would call them a slew of manliness mixed with some old fashioned country (but not that rootsy western stuff that no body likes, yes you Keith Urban!) Every time I listen to these guys all I can picture is a bunch of Aussie blokes standing around arm in arm at the pub drunkenly singing all their songs, clashing beer mugs together and admiring each other’s glorious beards.

The video here is one from a series of videos called ‘Sideshow Alley’ which is where they get some great acts, chuck them in an alley somewhere and record what happens. It’s a great video, and if they play anywhere near as good as in this video at Meredith, then I think we will be in for a rootin’ ol’ time! Prepare yourself for ghosts, ghouls and the odd mummy or two.

Hello! I know this is kinda off topic however I’d figured I’d ask.
Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe
guest writing a blog post or vice-versa? My
blog goes over a lot of the same topics as yours and I think we could greatly benefit from each other.
If you are interested feel free to shoot me an email.
I look forward to hearing from you! Fantastic blog by the way!
